Tinā is an inspiring, powerful, and crowd pleasing film about the healing power of music. It's a vibrant celebration of Samoan culture and a reminder of how music, culture and community can transform lives. It stars well known theatre actress Anapela Polata'ivao and is the directorial debut of Miki Magasiva.
Samoan teacher Mareta Percival is struggling following a huge personal loss in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Reluctantly taking on the role of substitute teacher at an elite, wealthy private school - she is surprised to find children crying out for guidance, inspiration and love.
Using the symphony of her culture to empower her students, she forms a choir, bringing them together while unexpectedly rediscovering her passion again for being a teacher and mother.

The prize draw will be conducted on Monday 24 February 2025 by representatives of One New Zealand by random electronic draw.
The winners will be contacted on Monday 24 February 2025 using the details provided as part of your My One NZ registration. If the winners cannot be reached within 48 hours, One New Zealand will have sole and absolute discretion to draw the prize again and award the prize to a new winner.
The prize is not redeemable for cash, cannot be substituted with an alternative prize or sold. The prize must be used while the movie is still showing in cinemas, it will not be replaced if it is not used in time.
The prize will be organised by representatives of One New Zealand and will be couriered to your chosen New Zealand address as soon as it becomes available.
